Of The Earth
Inspired by the African Mudcloth, a quality handmade cotton fabric.
Mudcloth originates from Mali, West Africa. The name “Mudcloth” comes from the Mali ethnic language Bambara, and is called “Bogolanfini”, which means (bogo) earth or mud, (Ian) with & (fini) cloth - earth or mud with cloth.
What intrigued me the most researching how to make this piece was the process of making Mudcloth - honoring time, effort, discipline & knowledge of the benefits of mother earth.
*Attempting to replicate the mudcloth symbol Iguana’s Elbow representing good fortune & Bone of a Sname representing bravery.*
